Summer Playhouses and Theaters

Summer playhouses are part of our New England heritage. Who doesn’t want to be in New England in the summer? Did you know New Hampshire is host to some excellent summer playhouses and theaters? Here is just a sample of NH’s summer thespian offerings:

The Barnstormers Theatre, Tamworth, NH. Known for the quality of their productions and talent, The Barnstormers Theatre is one of the oldest summer theaters in the country. In 2018, their 88th year, productions include The Producers, And Then There Were None, and Laughing Stock.

Interlakes Summer Theatre, Meredith, NH. Featuring a large recently renovated and air-conditioned theatre, this season’s productions are Evita, La Cage aux Folles, Show Boat, and Newsies. Oh, did we mention the cushy seats?

New London Barn Playhouse, New London, NH. The New London Barn Playhouse has been putting on productions since 1933, making it the longest continuously operating summer stock theater in New Hampshire. Main stage productions include Little Women, Sylvia, 42nd Street, Newsies, and Murder for Two.
